Soft Shades refer to Roman Blinds, Austrian Blinds, Festoon Blinds and London Blinds. Typically they are made in fabric on a headboard using cord control though recent years have seen a growth in the popularity of the continuous chain-controlled track. Naturally we can manufacture either and believe both styles have advantages over the other. Semi- or Full- Crossovers are also made by the Soft Shades and Blinds team at Soft Furnishing Industries.
For a contemporary look on your windows roman blinds can be sleek and smooth normally creating a sharp-edged dressing for your window without intruding into the room space. Roman blinds can be made in traditional back baton, front baton or oriental styles. To create sophisticated styles consider adding a swagged or shaped base, trims or buttons and bows. All of our Roman Blinds are pre-joined to ensure pattern matching and have lining attached with a bonding tape to avoid unsightly pinholes in the body of the Roman.
Austrian Blinds create a softer look in your room by allowing up to two times fullness in the fabric giving a plush look whether the blind is up or down. Our Austrian Blinds are made with a knife pleat heading and a single frill across the base as standard. Alternative headings and extra frills and trims are often added which makes the Austrian Blind a very versatile product that can be used in any room.
For a traditional plush look, Festoon Blinds gather the fabric vertically along the entire drop, falling to evenly spaced scallops at the base. Often made in sheer fabric the festooning process provides privacy and “old-world” style to any room. As with our other blinds, Festoons can have contrast piping or frills added to introduce extra colours to match the rooms theme.
Originating in London these blinds were traditionally made to cover narrow windows and are characterised by the swag base and inverted box heading. Soft Furnishing Industries has been successful in adapting the London Blind principle to wider windows but recommend these blinds used in a style as they were traditionally designed, that is, from around 90 up to 120cm wide.
Create a cottage feel by adding a crossover to any room in the house. The “Semi-” or “Full-” refers to the amount of heading that is overlapped and will affect the open space between the blind and thus the view through the window. Crossovers are fixed and held with tiebacks made to suit.
